Study on the curing behavior of polythiol/phenolic/epoxy resin and the mechanical and thermal properties of the composites

Abstract Phenolic/epoxy resin (EP-PF) composites were prepared, in which phenolic and epoxy was used as matrix, polythiol triethanolamine curing accelerators. The uniform experimental design method to obtain the scheme, system had minimum temperature. kinetics apparent activation energy of studied calculated by differential scanning calorimetry., mechanical thermal properties composite analyzed. results show that when content 12% 11%, peak temperature 118°C, lower than or phenolic/epoxy resin. T g dropped from 212 °C PF 157 EPF then 147 EPF-B. decomposition residual carbon rate also showed a slight downward trend, but greatly improved. strength flexural modulus EPF-B have increased 291.4 MPa 11.2 GPa 440 12.3 GPa, an increase 49% 27%. This research provides theoretical basis for broadening application range blending system.
